Ojibwe to buy Crowne Plaza and DoubleTree hotels in St. Paul, Star Tribune says

Posted: January 9, 2013 - 2:00pm

Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Chief Executive Melanie Benjamin announced Tuesday at the band’s annual state of the band address that the Band is in the process of purchasing two major hotels in the city of St. Paul.
According to the Star Tribune, those hotels are the Crowne Plaza Riverfront, on Kellogg Boulevard and the DoubleTree by Hilton on 6th and Minnesota Streets. The band said through media relations representatives that they are not yet ready to confirm the names of the hotels because the transaction is not yet complete.
The band had no comment regarding the process of the hotels. Benjamin did say at the State of the Band address that the purchase of the hotels would give the Mille Lacs band of Ojibwe ownership of 48 percent of the hotel rooms in St. Paul.
The Crowne Plaza Riverfront and the DoubleTree by Hilton are the largest and third-largest hotels, respectively, in St. Paul.
