Melrose man to appear in court Tuesday in shooting incident
The 23-year-old Melrose man, who admitted to Morrison County Sheriff investigators his involvement in Saturday’s shooting of Samuel Bennett, 27, Sauk Centre, is scheduled to appear for formal charges Tuesday in Morrison County District Court.
The sheriff’s department received a report of a shooting in the early morning hours Saturday after getting two 911 calls from a homeowner south of Upsala. Deputies and Minnesota State Patrol troopers responded to the scene, finding Bennett with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Bennett was transported to St. Cloud Hospital. The hospital had no information on Bennett’s condition Monday.
The suspect was located in Melrose by Melrose Police officers and Stearns County deputies and turned over to Morrison County deputies.
