WASHINGTON (AP) — The suspect in the Connecticut school shootings is 24-year-old Ryan Lanza, and his younger brother is being held for questioning as a possible second shooter, a law enforcement official said Friday. The law enforcement official says the boys' mother, Nancy Lanza, worked at the school as a teacher and is presumed dead.
The official also said Ryan Lanza's girlfriend and another friend are missing in New Jersey.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said the suspect is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to speak on the record about the developing criminal investigation.
According to the official, the suspect drove to the scene of the shootings in his mother's car. Three guns were found at the scene — a Glock and a Sig Sauer, both pistols — and a .223-caliber rifle. The rifle was recovered from the back of a car at the school. The two pistols were recovered from inside the school.

This story is completly wrong. The shooter is ADAM Lanza, a 20 year old. Ryan Lanza is his brother and from all current accounts had nothing to do with this. CNN and a number of other media went out with wrong info. This should be taken down.

This has been evolving
The story has been evolving all day and has changed since these articles in BDD. Don't know why Ryan Lanza was handcuffed but he doesn't even live in CT, he lives in NJ and was at work when the shooting happened. He had nothing to do with the shooting, period. 20 year old Adam Lanza is the shooter. He is said to have Aspergers and Personality Disorder and lived with his mother who was a teacher's aide at the school. I've been following this all day/evening on
WebSleuths.com. . . it's a True Crime message board.
The heart hurts to think of so many little children who were looking forward to Christmas suddenly gone. Prayers for the families involved, so many hurting people tonight.

This poor brother has enough to deal with. The killer took
this guys ID so that is why the police thought it was Ryan.
Media owes him an apology if not more. I think media
got their info. from the police. The police were doing their
job, and should also at least apologize.
An article should be written explaining the whole ID deal.
The article is for the uninformed people. We should know
by now, that when something like this happens that the

I've never seen a story with so much misinformation as this shooting. Apparently nobody from the cops on down to the reporters has to fact check anymore. Just print every rumor you hear as fact. Lets hope that by this time next week we will actually know what happened.

This has to be a major faux paux, an article incriminating the wrong people in a serious criminal issue--left on the website w/o correction for days and days. I am sure staffing is cut back these days, but the dispatch really needs someone to be assigned to just look at their website over weekends!
Then there's the constant personal attacks and juvenile banter from a few regulars. Regulars that despite that constant behavior have racked up tens of thousands of points in the Dispatch's laughable "points" system--the one supposedly dreamed up to encourage less of exactly that type of behavior in it's forums and comment sections.
