Home Instead Senior Care is still looking for gifts for its annual “Be A Santa To A Senior” program that began four years ago. This year organizers are anticipating delivering more than 500 gifts on Tuesday.
For those who want to help can go to one of Home Instead’s tree locations and pick up an ornament tag for a senior to purchase a gift. Gifts can be wrapped or unwrapped and need to be back to the trees by Friday. Senior requests are simple items, such as lotions, shampoos or grocery gift cards.
Tree locations are: GuidePoint Pharmacy in Brainerd and Crosby; Black Bear Lodge and Saloon and Sears, both in Baxter; Edward Jones-Kevin Peterson, North Central Medical Supply, Good Samaritan-Woodland, Crow Wing County Social Services, The Center, Salon Nouveau, Caribou Coffee (east), Maddens Resort and Home Instead, all of Brainerd; and Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby.
Home Instead has coordinated the project each year, but couldn’t do it without the help of the community. These gifts go to seniors in the Brainerd lakes area, who may be in need, are alone over Christmas, or simply would appreciate an anonymous gift during the holidays. The names of the seniors were collected from non-profit agencies, churches, service groups and put on ornaments.
