■ New segment of Crow Wing County Road 18 with roundabout
now open in Nisswa
NISSWA — Motorists travelling Crow Wing County Road 18 through Nisswa will find a new segment of the road open to traffic.
This new segment of County Road 18 opened Friday and includes a roundabout.
The road temporarily intersects with only northbound Highway 371, and in 2013 will become the permanent intersection between County Road 18 and both directions of Highway 371.
Motorists will find access between County Road 18 and southbound Highway 371 about a half-mile north at the Main Street/Highway 371 signalized intersection in Nisswa.
Commercial drivers are reminded that the concrete apron around the roundabout’s center island has a mountable curb designed to accommodate a 62-foot wheelbase tractor-trailer with 48-foot long trailer. Drivers should slow down accordingly and should pull their trailer’s rear tires onto the apron to navigate through the roundabout.

The new County Road 18 was constructed as part of the larger Highway 371 reconstruction project in Nisswa. Work will continue along Highway 371 in Nisswa through late November/early December and will resume in spring 2013.
Motorists should continue to slow down and drive diligently as they navigate daily work zones.
