WDC National Honor Society students organize blood drive for students, staff
WADENA — Wadena-Deer Creek High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) conducted a blood drive Wednesday, where students and staff had the opportunity to donate blood to help save lives.
NHS members Molly Kraemer and Mike Paavola coordinated the blood drive as their community service project for NHS. They pre-registered donors and recruited NHS members to help serve as “blood buddies” for the drive.
“All of our donors are students and staff from WDC. We’ve had a great response,” said Paavola.
Kraemer said 57 WDC students and staff had pre-registered to donate blood.
The American Red Cross team from St. Cloud and Alexandria set up their mobile site in a portion of the middle/high school gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The WDC NHS is made up of juniors and seniors. Rachel Bounds serves as adviser.
