The Pequot Lakes/Breezy Point Lion’s Club awarded the “Lion of the Year” award to Virg Lundberg of Pine River. Club officials said Lundberg is in charge of the Shish-Ka-Bobber smoking at every event and he works tirelessly at it. He is one of the original members and club officials said he is still going strong at 80. This award is intended as a thank you as well as recognition for work well done, club officials said in a statement.
The Pequot Lakes-Breezy Point Lions Club is a family-friendly club with a can-do attitude and its members love to have fun, according to officials. There are many levels of involvement, from becoming an active full-time member to helping out at an occasional event. Those who are interested in becoming a Lions member or serving in their own neighborhood may call Molly Ring with the Pequot Lakes/Breezy Point Lions Club at 838-8002. The club’s meetings are at 5:30 p.m., the second Monday of the Month at Pelican Lakes Conservation Club (one mile south of Breezy Point gates) and visitors are welcome.
