The return of an early morning departure flight from the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport is sure to please many business travelers according to Airport Manager Rick Adair.
The SkyWest schedule, listed this week in a Brainerd Lakes Chamber announcement, includes weekday outbound flights at 7:30 a.m. That particular flight, Adair said, would be welcomed by business community members who want to make connections to flights at Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport.
“Absolutely, for our business travelers that’s a real need,” he said.
The SkyWest schedule will go into effect Dec. 15.
Also welcomed by many, he said will be a weekday flight that returns to Brainerd around 8:30 p.m., as opposed to the current flight that returns to Brainerd closer to 10:30 p.m.
“A lot of people are excited about that,” he said.
The SkyWest weekday schedule call for outbound flights are at 7:30 a.m. and 3:19 p.m. to Minneapolis-St. Paul and inbound flights are at 2:25 p.m. and 8:27 p.m. On weekends, the inbound flight will be at 2:25 p.m. and the outbound flight will be at 3:19 p.m.

I purchased tickets to Hawaii that were over $1200 per ticket and had to change my flight pattern because of the changes. These tickets were purchased two weeks ago and there was no information about the possibility of a flight change when I purchased them. Our initial flight was to have an hour layover in Minneapolis and after the change, we had a 6 hour layover. I called to change the flight and was on the phone for 30 minutes and we still have a 4 hour layover.

Last time I tried flying out of here to Oahu & back ,made the mistake of booking the airfare 8 months in advance.
Because getting the place to stay required booking that room 9 months in advance over Xmas.
NWA/ Delta changed the flights once a month every month.
Orig flight was direct to/from MSP & HON.
The 8 different flight changes included connecting flights through; Detroit , SFO , LAX . Portland & Las Vegas.
Two weeks prior to departure my friends at NWA changed the ticket back to direct flights , which in reality both ended up
going through LAX. were we changed planes and sat for 4 or 5 hours each way.
About the only thing you can do is bring lots of snacks and do not make prior arrangements for any specific time for your arrival.
Then focus on the fact there is a Todai Restaurant in Honolulu.

Same problem
We booked in June for a March flight from Brd to Mazatlan with a 1 1/2 Hr layover in Mpls going down and a 2 Hr. layover returning. After three different changes we now leave a day earlier and stay overnight in Mpls. Then stay overnight again on our return. That adds two days, two motels and meals to our trip. All they say is they have the right to adjust the flights. They will never see our business again. No wonder they can't make it.
Loss of MLT vacations & NWA world vacations on flights X MSP
Really reduced the direct air flights especially going to Cozumel over Christmas & New Years. There are still a few direct Sun Country flights however.
Last couple of years Delta & their " world vacation " program offered flights to Cozumel X MSP ( 80 % connections) of which took more than 24 hours one way or another vs a 4 hour direct flight.
Its pretty bad when you have to add a day or 2 to a vacation !
Special Note to the Unbalanced One , As a PT Federal Air Marshal when Im working I fly for free , 1st class .

The Good News would be the airline selected to service Brainerd and other N MN cities is a real winner . Think its going to take a little time to rebuild the confidence of local business folks who travel out of this neighborhood.
Lakes Express is still another good option.
