Flood repair work to cause road detours as culverts are replaced

Posted: October 11, 2012 - 7:44pm

Motorists will have a few adjustments to make as repairs are made to areas damaged by summer flooding.

The Crow Wing County Highway Department entered into a contract with Holmvig Excavating for culvert replacement projects at three sites damaged by the June floods.

Signs announcing detours will be in place during the work.

• Site 1: County Highway 1 at Van Sickle Creek — about 3.5 miles northeast of Highway 6 in the city of Emily. Expect the detour to be in place starting Oct. 22 through Oct. 24. The detour will use County Road 106, County Highway 36 and Highway 6.

• Site 2: County Highway 36 at Ross Brook in Ross Lake Township — about one mile east of County Road 106. The detour should be in place from Oct. 24 to Oct. 26, using Count Road 105.

• Site 3: County Highway 36 at Johnson’s Creek in Ross Lake Township — about four miles east of County Road 106. The detour is expected from Oct. 29 to Oct. 31 using County Road 105.

The detour time frames will be dependent upon how construction proceeds and weather conditions. During culvert replacement work, the roads will not be passable.
