WADENA — Jeff Webb and Marcy Hartman on Friday were named Homecoming king and queen for Wadena-Deer Creek High School at WDC Middle/High School.
Webb is the son of Brett and Jenny Sibert and Macy is the daughter of Bill and Deb Hartman. The 2011 king and queen, Jonathan Goeden and Lauren Girard, were at the coronation to officially crown the new king and queen.
Typically, WDC’s coronation has been held in Wadena Memorial Auditorium. The senior class wanted to hold the ceremony in the new gymnasium, as well as move the coronation date to Friday morning, allowing the entire student body and staff to see the crowning of the king and queen. Seniors Sayde Anderson and Henry Arrigoni served as the masters of ceremony at the coronation. Due to the cold, windy weather, the parade was canceled for Friday afternoon, however, the grand marshals — the WDC School Board — were introduced.
“Unseen Panic,” a band made up of WDC students, performed the song “Little Talks” as a tribute to the Homecoming candidates. The band members are: Miranda Miller, vocals; Jodana Albers, drums; Adam Leverson, bass/vocals; Joey Pate, lead guitar; and Drew Larson, trumpet.
Members of the Homecoming Court included: Lacey Barthel, daughter of Scott and Kristie Barthel; Sarah Craig, daughter of Michael and Marian Craig; Shayna Horn, daughter of Scott and Lisa Horn; Halley Maas, daughter of Jim and Kim Maas; Christian Berg, son of Svend Berg and Patricia Berg; Jacob Krause, son of Jon and Mary Krause; Drew Larson, son of Aaron and Peggy Larson; Mike Paavola, son of Lori and Rich Murdock; and Gary and Angie Paavola
