Love Thy Neighbor event planned Oct. 12
On Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a fundraising lunch called Love Thy Neighbor will be held to help the victims of the fire that destroyed the belongings of 12 families in our community.
The event will be held on the grounds of the Central Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge campus, just south of the burned out apartment building. A fantastic lunch will be catered by Prairie Bay for a suggested minimum $10 donation. Good Samaritan and Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union have made a donation to cover the cost of food. A brief program with music provided by the Teen Challenge Choir as well as comments by Brainerd Fire Chief, Kevin Stunek and Bridges of Hope Executive Director, Jana Shogren will be held at 12:30 p.m. Representatives from Salvation Army, Bridges of Hope and community leaders as well as some of the victims will be present to answer questions.
All proceeds will be handled by Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union which has established a fund. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. All monies raised will be distributed to the Salvation Army and Bridges of Hope to assist the victims. If more than what is needed is raised it will go to others in need in our community.
Donation of items will not be accepted at this event but there will be an opportunity to register an item you have that you would be willing to donate to a needy family. Furniture and beds are the items most needed.
All donations are tax-deductible.
