Mrs. International to be VIP guest at Bastyr family fundraiser
Mrs. International Sarah Bazey will be a VIP guest at the Bastyr family fundraiser Saturday at Brainerd International Raceway.
Lisa Bastyr is a burn patient at HCMC with third-degree burns covering 65 percent of her body and will need many surgeries.
In 1994, Bazey was in a helicopter crash and suffered third-degree burns over 40 percent of her body when the helicopter exploded. She had 15 surgeries, 18 months of therapy and countless medical procedures. She serves as vice president of the National Board of Trustees for the Phoenix Society, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering burn victims through support programs, education and advocacy.
