Camp Ripley Veterans State Trail meeting set Oct. 11
Sen. Paul Gazelka, R-Brainerd, and the Camp Ripley/Veterans State Trail Committee (CRVST) will be hosting a meeting 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Morrison County Government Center, Meeting Room No. 1.
Also in attendance will be Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen, chair for the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Committee. Ingebrigtsen’s committee overseas the Legacy Fund. The purpose of the meeting is to seek Ingebrigtsen’s support for The Camp Ripley/Veterans State Trail and obtain funding for the project during the upcoming legislative session.
Considerable information will be presented at the meeting that defines the goals of this state trail and the merits of building a true multi-modal trail with motorized and non-motorized use that will link the Paul Bunyan State Trail to the Soo Line Trail.
Trail supporters report they are asking for as many people as possible to attend this informative meeting in order to demonstrate the enormous support this trail effort is receiving from the Department of Natural Resources, Camp Ripley, Morrison County, Cass County, Crow Wing County, city of Little Falls, the National Park Service and many of the surrounding townships. Adjoining trail committees have deemed this effort as “the most important connecting trail” in all of Minnesota, reported Bob Reinitz, CRVST committee chair, adding the completion of this trail portends a very large economic impact for all of central Minnesota.
