Fire calls: Smoke turns out to be burnt chicken

Saturday fuel spill shuts down Highway 210

Smoke turns out to be burned chicken

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a call at 5:32 p.m. Sunday of smoke coming from an apartment on the 500 block of D Street in northeast Brainerd. While it sounded from the initial call that there may have been a resident in trouble, the smoke was from a burned chicken.

Earlier in the day, firefighters responded to an alarm at 2:09 p.m. on the 9200 block of Lone Pine as a steamy shower set off a smoke alarm.

Fuel spill shuts down Highway 210

A fuel spill at South Sixth and Washington streets shut down Highway 210 Saturday.

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to the call at 9:20 a.m. Traffic was diverted after a diesel fuel spill. A motorcycle spun out on the fuel spill, but no one was injured. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour for the cleanup.

Burnt chicken? Say where it is; it's at Northern Lights

Apartments, and we see the firetrucks up here at least 3 times a week! Section 8 shouldn't mean complete stupidity.

one of the candidates for city council lives there

Bob Olson's clone. Perhaps he can monitor that?

Nice

"tollerant" left wing stab in the back, from the former DFL bigwig.

snow

As much as you harp about threats and stalkers, why would you feel the need to share where he lives?

there are 5 candidates for Ward 3

When people run for office publicly that becomes different than a private citizen. How many of you know where Bob Olson lives? Or Mary Koep? It's not a secret.
Besides, no names were used. It could be any one of the 5 candidates.

And I didn't say I was walking by his place every day like he said about Snowda.
He also assumed he knows who an anonymous poster actually is. First Mistake.

Three times a week, pdnet.

Maybe some of the residents need medical assistance. That is not a nice comeback on your part.

That sounds like

Clinton, under oath, talking about Monica and himself. You pointed one candidate out and you know it.

Public figure

Public figures register to run for office and must include their place of residence in order to show that they live in that ward, district, etc... You will also find the addresses of candidates published in most Voter Guides.

The person in question has also given up his anonymity on this web site revealing who he is by signing his comments with his public name.

No outrage for pdnet15's degrading reference to the residents: "Section 8 shouldn't mean complete stupidity." ?

Really?

We have an economy at a tipping point, a massive tax increase looming and a new social welfare program that is going to break the bank and THIS is the arguement of the day?

Well LLR,

after watching 2016 the movie, I'm afraid that it's too late to stop the left wing juggernaut. So harassing it's supporters is all that can be done.

No outrage from me on any

No outrage from me on any section 8 housing and its tenants. There are good people that live in the housing and people that are slobs. I'm not referring to any units in Brainerd as I haven't been in any.

A section 8 unit that I do go in has people in their 30's and 40's that sit around outside and smoke. One day I asked
two women if they would be interested in a small job that
could earn some money.
I was asking them if they could help this one lady with some
cleaning. No No, we can't make any money or we will lose
all of our benefits.
No offer of volunteering to help without pay. Which is ok,
I now think I wouldn't recommend them anyway.

Now, how does that help the debt jobs and the economy?

Fnb

You obviously have no clue who are the elected DFL leaders in this area. Do you know who the Crow Wing GOP leaders are?

You bet.

I didn't say current DFL leaders, did I? Once you've been a chairperson you are a public figure for life. Kinda like Bush still messing up everything Obama tries to do.

Southie - clarification

DFL and GOP 'elected' officers and directors are not paid and they have no benefits or compensation. They are volunteers. Their groups elect them -- not the general public. There are long lists of former leaders of non-profit groups in this area. Too many to name or keep track of.

THAT is a major distinction between candidates who run for public office and appear on the ballot in November -- and those who serve on local boards. That would include groups like the Rotary, VFW, etc.

Thankfully people are still willing to run and to subject themselves to public scrutiny. We should all pay attention to the upcoming debates and their literature. Concerned citizens WILL ask relevant questions in their quest to figure out who would serve the area best.

Because these campaigns are low cost compared to bigger ones - I suppose there is no campaign disclosure about who is funding their literature and signs. Many self-fund, of course not everyone has the money to do that.

And who pays...................

It's funny that these "poor" people can afford cigarettes. The "poor" can afford to call the fire department for burnt chicken. (They have so much money for food they do not even care if they burn it.) If I gave the fire department a call then I would be paying for the firetruck coming to my house. Isn't it nice that they can sit around all day and do nothing while taxpayers are paying for everything including their health insurance.

Denton, are you a moderator or a commentator?

It would be nice if you chose just one. And Sadie, I agree totally! Southie, if it was a medical emergency, there would be police and/or an ambulance. I am talking about the constant invasion of firetrucks for this one site that turn out to be false alarms.
