Awards celebration tickets available
for Staples-Motley foundation event
STAPLES — Tickets are now available for the Staples Motley Area Community Foundation Community Service Awards Celebration. The event is Oct. 4, at Town’s Edge Restaurant, Staples.
The social begins at 5:45 p.m., buffet dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and the program is at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at Mayer, Porter, & Nelson, Ltd.; Staples World; Unity Bank, Staples and Motley; First International Bank and Trust, Staples and Motley; Mid-Central Federal Savings Bank; and online at wwwstaplesmotleyfoundation.org.
The 2012 award recipients are:
• Jack Wilson — Duane R. Lund Award for Lifetime Achievement.
• Tom Crawford — Citizens of the Year.
• Huck Holst — Chairman’s Award.
• Staples and Motley Dollars for Scholars — Organization of the Year.
• Staples Dairy Queen — Business of the Year.
• Andrew Nelson — Youth of the Year.
The inspiration for this event was born in the celebration held in 2004 to honor Dr. Duane R. Lund for his lifetime achievement of contributions to the area. During the planning for that event, the Community Foundation decided that one of the best ways in which it could honor Dr. Lund was to continue his mission of enabling the gifts of so many others to flourish and bloom in the community.
The Staples Motley Area Community Foundation is a component fund in partnership with the Initiative Foundation. Its mission is to develop and strengthen community resources, and to enhance the quality of life of individuals, families and organizations in and around the Staples and Motley communities. Its focus is to strengthen youth and families, improve community appearance and increase community involvement along with a sense of belonging.
