Eric Sumner and Sheila Eldred of Minneapolis captured the men’s and women’s 6-kilometer Mud run at Camp Lake Placid in Pillager Saturday.
The third-annual event saw 231 participants in the 6K and the children’s half mile races.
Sumner won the men’s race in 27:25. Mitch Johnson of Fargo was second in 29:40 and Brady Androff of Rosemount placed third.
Eldred’s winning time was 31:03. Pillager’s Dena Storm was second in 33:32 and Faith Filipiak of Grand Rapids was third.
Pillager’s Eli Sundquist’s time of 32.31 led the under 12 division for boys. Jaeden Lindsay of Brainerd won the girls division.
Wesley Sumner of Minneapolis won the boys half mile event in 4:11. Big Lake’s Ashlyn Werner was the top girl finisher.
Team Range of Pillager won the team event with an average time of 40:49. Team Werberg’s of Brooklyn Park was second.
The Pillager Fire Department was on hand to hose down the “mudders” after they ran the course and crawled through the mud pits. The costume award went to Heidi Hahn’s “The Dirty Dozen” and the family costume award went to the Axbergs. Proceeds from the event went to the Lakes Area Disability Ministry.
