U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken Friday announced $5 million to repair roads damaged by floods and severe weather in Duluth and surrounding communities as well as counties in southern Minnesota.
The funding, which includes eligible sites in Aitkin and Crow Wing counties, was allocated to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Last month, the president issued a federal disaster declaration for Minnesota to help rebuild after the devastating floods this spring. Klobuchar and Franken were also in Duluth and the surrounding communities to survey the flood damage and discuss recovery efforts with local officials.
Counties with eligible damage sites include Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Crow Wing, Dakota, Goodhue, Kandiyohi, Meeker, Pine, Rice, Sibley, and St. Louis.
