Cass County Board Tuesday approved accepting the low bids for three bridges and an erosion control paving project.
Anderson Brothers Construction won the erosion control project for County Road 161 by Pug Hole Lake with a $167,696 bid, the lowest of six received. It was 9.08 percent over engineering estimates.
Gerit Hanson Contracting had the lowest of four bids to win a $491,462 contract to replace a bridge on County Road 120. That bid was 19.26 percent over engineering estimates.
Reierson Construction had the lowest of four bids to win a $377,568.80 contract to replace a bridge on County Road 147. That ran 3.01 percent over engineering estimates.
Structural Specialties Inc. had the lowest of five bids to win a $410,928.92 contract to replace a Wilson Township bridge. That project ran 7.44 percent under engineering estimates. The township will pay $20,000 toward the project, with state township bridge funds paying the balance.
County Engineer David Enblom informed the board costs for the first three phases of a five-phase project to install a recreational trail connection from the Paul Bunyan Trail to the city of Walker have run under budget, so surplus money the county dedicated to the project can be re-dedicated to Phase 4, which is installing a trail bridge adjacent to the Highway 371 bridge at Shingobee Island.
The bridge is expected to be installed within the next year.
The board also approved spending a 35 percent match or about $52,500 toward all-terrain vehicle trail improvements along County State Aid Highway 5 by Longville. Minnesota DNR and ATV club funds will pay the balance.
