Suit to end same-day voter registration dismissed

Posted: August 17, 2012 - 1:16pm

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Election-day voter registration will continue in Minnesota this year after a federal judge rejected a lawsuit that sought to end it.

Minnesota Public Radio reported Friday that federal Judge Donovan Frank dismissed the challenge to same-day registration from two conservative groups and seven individuals, who contended that ineligible voters cast ballots in 2008 and 2010.

Frank's ruling found that no federal laws were broken and the groups failed to unearth misconduct or fully pursue their case in state courts.

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, a Democrat, and other Democratic-leaning groups praised the decision.

The ruling doesn't affect legal challenges to a constitutional amendment that would require voters to present photo identification to vote, and Ritchie's rewrite of the ballot question on the amendment.

So, no misconduct was found.

Good. Same day registration is to continue.

Sec of State has no duty to confirm eligibility before

counting their vote(s)?! So who's job is it? If he was in the private sector he would be fired.

The election judges. They register them and verify eligibility.

I had 2 friends that voted absentee for the primary

and they said if it gets more complicated than that they could see a lot of people not bothering to vote!

Of course, the election judges are told there is no way they can

...segregate suspicious votes, so that pretty much assures that bogus votes will be cast. Remember the 10 laundromat dwellers?

Well if congressmen can live in offices

People can live in laundromats, right?

If Election judges verify eligibility

how could the four ineligible mentally disabled people vote at the Crow Wing Courthouse??? Proof is in the pudding here or in this case the B & the S. Lol!

Voter suppression and intimidation tactics continue to plague us

Who would have ever thought the one basic right in this country , To Vote , would ever be questioned by a group of individuals trying to control the ballot box.

Were their voting rights taken away legally? I read that all but one was eligible to vote. It is not up to you or to the election judges, but to their guardians to determine that and follow through on the procedure to deny them their rights.

Election judges do not verify mental ability to vote.

Do you really want to go there?

Voter fraud is

occurring in unlikely places. For example, a former governor voted in a special election to replace Ted Kennedy while owning no home in that state. He used his son's unfinished basement as his address, while living out of state in his new primary residence for tax purposes home in California.

Guess who?

I'm sure if Southie thought the landromat dwellers...

...were voting Republican she'd be singing a different tune. But as we all know, voter fraud has a well-known Democratic bias.

No kidding!

They left mine on to drive them crazy! You have to wonder why none of the Republicans speak up in support of their guys.

Bless their hearts!

Here's the Kicker

Not a republican, but there is an article in "the Daily Caller"
for you to read. Romney does have MA 2010 tax returns for
2010. Rachael Maddow brought this up on her show to begin
the "low hanging fruit" section hoping for the Oct. surprise.
The Ma elections division responded in June 2011. The election laws say if someone "intended" to maintain residence, even slept in that "laudromat" one night - there
is no problem.
No one would move to CA from MA to avoid taxes - you move to FLA or TX.
Here's the kicker - people have fits if Art Becker writes something and you think it is some kind of email. This is some kind of email. I like to look up some concrete info.
first before pointing fingers.
The plan for today is to say"Paul Ryan is not good for women"

No, here's the kicker

Mitt filed for homestead tax relief on his California house for two years and received a huge cut back in his property taxes. He then was called out on his voting in Mass. issue, and proceeded to then refile his taxes. He retroactively undid his California residency and repaid that state.

And in Utah during the Olympics, BTW, he filed as a resident, then decided to run for the Senate from Massachusetts against Ted Kennedy and had to refile again to make Massachusetts his home retroactively.

And this dude has an MBA from Harvard?

He has no clue what his tax accountants do? Or what he pays in taxes? Or what his blind trusts invest in?

Deception or dementia?

He flip flops from state to state and it all may have changed since he was asked about it, what with refiling and all. And because he hasn't shown us his tax forms, even the address and residence lines at the top, what do we actually know?
