A 9-year-old Pillager girl recently won Miss Midwest Sweetheart at the American Co-Ed pageant in Madison, Wis., and now will gear up for nationals at Walt Disney World in November.
Hannah Ausland, who will enter the fourth grade this fall, will compete against 60 contestants in her age group. Hannah also will enter the photogenic optional. She won photogenic at the Minnesota Miss American Co-Ed (MAC) pageant in March, won photogenic at the Minnesota National American Miss (NAM) pageant in July and just won the photogenic at the Midwest pageant.
The NAM pageants encourage and reinforce the confidence and natural beauty that is within each girl. Contestants under age 13 do not wear any make-up during required competitions. Contestants are judged based on 30 percent interview, 30 percent poise during evening gown and 30 percent personal introduction.
Hannah does pageants to make friends and learn poise and confidence. She wants to be a pediatrician when she grows up.
