Man struck by lightning still critical

The 23-year-old Madelia man who was struck by lightning Wednesday at Brainerd International Raceway near Brainerd continued to be in critical condition Friday at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Jamie Kevin Harris was struck by lightning at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday while driving on a four-wheeler. He was unresponsive on scene and was transported by North Air Care to the Minneapolis hospital. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred on corners three and four in the camping area of the race track.

10-year-old girl condition is improving

BREEZY POINT — The 10-year-old Breezy Point girl injured in a two-vehicle crash Aug. 1 on Crow Wing County Road 11 and Cedar Street in Breezy Point was improving Friday but is still hospitalized at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

Breigh Brogle was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her mother, Dana Roen, 31, Breezy Point. The vehicle driven by Roen was on County Road 11, taking a left turn onto Cedar Street, when it was struck broadside by another vehicle.

According to Breigh’s CaringBridge site, she suffered from multiple fractures to her pelvis, a broken leg and foot, broken collar bone, fractured ribs on both sides, a punctured left lung, bruised kidney and a small tear in her spleen.
