Baxter Council now a contested race

There will be a contested race in the November general election for two open seats on the Baxter City Council.

Tom Hice, 40, Baxter, said he ran for Baxter City Council about 10 years ago but he didn’t have the time to campaign. This time, he said he has time.

“I filed because I want to do my part to help lead Baxter in the future to make good economic decisions for the families who are here,” Hice said.

Hice said he is not running t on any particular issue. He said he filed to be part of the community and to help prepare Baxter for the future.

Hice is a branch manager for the Baxter office of Nationstar Mortgage.

On Tuesday — the day filings opened Baxter Mayor Darrel Olson and council members Mark Cross and Todd Holman filed for re-election.
