PINE RIVER — The body of the missing 27-year-old Pine River man was found late Tuesday night and a 20-year-old Backus woman is in custody in connection with the crime, Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch said.
Burch said the body of Mark Andrew Huesmann, who was last seen in the Pine River area about a week ago, was located on the property of JB’s Welding and Repair in rural Pine River in a shallow grave. The victim was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Burch said the suspect, whose name is being withheld pending formal charges, and Huesmann were acquaintances. At this time, Burch said they are not aware of any motives in the killing.
Burch anticipates that there may be more suspects involved in the death of Huesmann.
Burch said the public should not be concerned for their safety.
“We don’t have any lunatics running around,” said Burch. “The public should not be fearful.”
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation.

This is the worst possible outcome that could be. I hope that everyone who reads this article will stop and say a prayer for Marks family and friends, and say one for the families and friends of the ppl who did this, its just heartbreaking.
RIP! How sad!
RIP! How sad!
We don't have any lunatics running around, Don't worry.
The guy who is missing is found buried in a shallow grave. The county sheriff then says; “We don’t have any lunatics running around,” said Burch. “The public should not be fearful.”
So the sheriff must be convinced this crime was not done by a lunatic? Or they nabbed the only lunatic in the area and is no longer running around. I'm confused.
Really?????

if there are more suspects that are not in jail then i would say yes there are some lunatics running around, wouldnt you?
Re: Don't worry
This is an ongoing investigation and as to not jeopardize the case so MY family can get justice and closure there is only so much that can be released but I can say with complete certainty there is NO reason for the public to be in fear. Now maybe you all can rest peacefully and hopefully someday my family and I can too.
Don't stress
I pray the families involved are given some peace with finding Mark. I also pray they are left alone from all the people driving by peering down their driveway. Glad to see the "no trespassing" signs go up last night. I have no fears living where I do. Seriously people, quit talking about issues you have heard rumors on, you actually don't even know the entire story. Leave this family alone! They are dealing with enough right now!
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope that this family can find peace and gain justice for the loved one that was taken from them.
I'm sure Burch's remarks are because the investigation has a narrow scope, and this victim was specifically targeted. He's trying to say this was not random and we don't have a serial killer in our midst, so the average person who is in no other way involved with these people has nothing to worry about.
Lildrizzi, may you find comfort with family and friends
and know that the community is behind you. What sadness, my prayers to Mark Andrew Huesmann; may he be at peace.
Sorry for your loss
This is so sad for everyone. Peace be with you.
