ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A federal judge has certified a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Minnesota Sex Offender Program as a class action on behalf of everyone committed to the program.
U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank ruled Tuesday that the lawsuit meets the legal requirements to be certified as a class action. He pointed out that the proposed class includes about 600 people who've been indefinitely committed to the program, and he concluded that addressing each case individually would be an enormous drain on legal resources.
Frank writes that they all face an identical process for treatment and possible release. He says they all raise similar allegations of a lack of realistic opportunities for earning their freedom. And says they all have sufficiently similar legal interests for their cases to go forward together.

You are a bunch of psychotic sexual predators and should be locked up for life. End of case!

While I agree with you. The suit goes to the constitutionality of the law. I think that sentences need to include up to life for those convicted of multiple sex crimes. However is it really constitutional to simply commit someone after their sentence has been served? I am fairly positive that this is a suit that will be won. I want our children to be safe, but that cannot be accomplished by violating peoples rights. the answer is in much harsher penalties for sex crimes.
all convicted sex offenders to be committed for life ?
You want all convicted sex offenders to be committed for life regardless of circumstances?
That's fine... Just make sure you're sitting down when you see the bill in order to pay for it.

If a man walks by you, swats you on the rear and says, "nice a**" and you were offended, and pressed charged against this man, he can be labeled a sex offender.
He should be locked up for life because you are a prude or so weak you couldn't handle it on your own?
Put on your big girl panties and take care of it yourself. He shouldn't be locked up or labeled for that offense.
Or the 18 year old boy and his 17 year old girlfriend. Girl's parent gets mad and calls the cops and the boy gets arrested and labeled for the rest of his lifeeeee.
Is that fair? Didn't think so.
Multiple offenders (strike 2) or child molesters get no breaks.
