The 25-year-old Pillager man, charged with first- and third-degree felony assault of a 22-year-old Pine River man on March 18 in the parking lot of Zorbaz on Gull in Lake Shore, was seen Friday in Cass County District Court.
Judge Paul T. Benshoof scheduled a pre-trial hearing for William R. Kassulker for 4 p.m. Oct. 24, with the jury trial scheduled at 9 a.m. Oct. 31.
According to the criminal complaint filed against Kassulker, Kassulker knocked or pushed the victim to the ground. The victim then got up and swung at Kassulker but missed him completely. Kassulker then punched him in the face with sufficient force to knock him to the ground with one blow. The victim went down and hit his head on the concrete.
