Crosslake’s Northern Minnesota Railroad Heritage Association (NMRHA), also known as the Northern Trackers, welcomes visitors to its headquarters this summer to view:
A new interpretive exhibit featuring photographs of train wrecks, on loan from the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Panels featuring railroad safety information from Project Lifesaver, the national program that encourages everyone to be aware of all aspects of train safety. Each visiting child will receive a Project Lifesaver safety reminder.
The continued growth of a variety of model railroad layouts. Members have spent the winter constructing new buildings, adding historical and scenic details to all the various gauges of model train layouts. Many interactive activities and a special children’s layout will keep the young folks busy.
Our half size outdoor replica of Minnesota’s first steam engine, the William Crooks. The 150th anniversary celebration of the Crooks debut on Minnesota rails will be noted in July 2012.
Summer hours at Northern Trackers are every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; Sundays 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM. Group visits can be arranged by appointment at 218-692-1900 or with NMRHA president Dennis Olson, 218-821-8357. The Northern Trackers building with models and displays is located at 35170 County Road Three, Crosslake.
