BEMIDJI (AP) — A 21-year-old woman is facing criminal charges in Beltrami County after her four children were left in a sweltering car in a Target parking lot.
A criminal complaint says Bianca Hazelrigg went shopping for swimsuits while the children were left in the car with the windows rolled up last Saturday. The outside temperature was 88 degrees at the time.
Someone who spotted the children called police. Officer found two 2-year-olds and a 4-year-old inside the car, while a 7-year-old was playing outside the vehicle. Court documents say Hazelrigg was in the store about 30 minutes.
The Bemidji Pioneer says Hazelrigg appeared in court Tuesday afternoon when she told the judge through tears that she would never harm her children. They have been placed in protective custody.

Add comment21 and already 4 kids!
Let me guess, she's part of the 99%!
Parents shouldn't leave such young children alone for 30
...minutes in an air-conditioned home, let alone in an car oven. And the biggest irony of this story...she was shopping for swimsuits for the children! Thank God the kids are safe. It could have turned out much worse.
21 with 4 kids and one kid is
21 with 4 kids and one kid is 7 ... this is just a failure all around.
But
our biggest worry is gays getting married, right? Keep thinking that while you pay to raise these kids.
Notice that m,larry
says " Keep thinking that while you pay to raise these kids."
That tells me that he isn't helping pay, I guess us taxpayers had better get back to work.
Get over yourself FUB

"21 with 4 kids and one kid is new
21 with 4 kids and one kid is 7 ... this is just a failure all around."
When I was 23, we already had 4 kids. Does that make my husband and I failures? I don't think so. Be real careful how you assume things. We provided and raised all 4 of them WITHOUT outside support and advice.
"Two 2 year old's" tells you that she had twins. When we had our twins my oldest child was almost 4. YOUR money didn't raise our kids.
Yeah, she messed up BIG time leaving them in the car, I'm not saying she didn't, but that's all you know about her.
That's commendable Nan, but
That's commendable Nan, but this woman is 21 with a 7 year old. Doing the math, she would have been pregnant at 14 and had the child at 14 or 15. I don't think she was supporting herself at that age, and I don't think she was married either. This is Minnesota, not Kentucky.
Bottom line, this person made a very poor choice and it could have ended tragically. She needs some education and a wake up call for the safety of these kids. You don't leave a DOG locked in a hot car, much less kids. And you never leave kids alone at that age. So she screwed up on 2 accounts. I just think of how much worse this could have been if the 7 year old who was outside the vehicle had darted out and gotten hit by a car, or if the children inside the car had died from the heat. The mother's ignorance would not have made the children any less dead.
Okey
I know what you are saying and yes, I did say she messed up. Part of my point was that we don't know circumstances. Was she raped at 14? Did her parent's help her with the 7 year old when she gave birth? We don't know. That is part of why I got huffy.
Someone being called a failure when we don't know is just wrong.
As for the car? Oh HELL yeah she messed up,I didn't defend her on that.
FNB
I probably have paid in more taxes than you, so get off your horse.
Don't
I've paid my share! Don't be so judgmental.
