Out of 100 total gauges across the upper Midwest in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, three remained in flood stage Tuesday — in Brainerd, Aitkin and Fort Ripley.
On the positive side, the Mississippi River is dropping in all three communities. As of Tuesday, the river was in a minor flood water stage in Aitkin as it receded to 14.38 feet. Flood stage in Aitkin is reached at 12 feet. The National Weather Service predicts the river will drop out of flood stage in Aitkin by June 12.
In Brainerd, the minor flood level on Tuesday had the river at 13.92 feet. Minor flooding is reached at 13 feet.
At Fort Ripley, flood waters are also receding as the river dropped to 10.5 feet Tuesday afternoon, a half-foot above flood stage.
