The Crow Wing County Foster Parent Association marked May as National Foster Care Month when it conducted its annual banquet on May 14 at Northland Arboretum in Brainerd. Honored at the banquet were Peggy and Arnold Lorenson and Arnold and Karen Strang. These families have served as foster parents for more than 29 years in Crow Wing County.

...who is complimenting foster parents, but I hardly think this is something the BD should be micromanaging. To be honest, I'm rather surprised anyone cares about the ratings.

Why is it that
this newspaper allows a few left wing zealots to always post insulting accusations at innocent commenters? Then they usually protest the same thing and threaten to hurt the paper financially when their lies don't get the results they want.
It's usually the same posters that uniformly post backhanded liberal insults and claim innocence when called on their low attacks.
Mabe the left wing / communist lurch of our country's administration has given those posters false courage and hope that they can finally disenfranchise the majority of the citizens with their PC indoctrination. I will make sure all my friends buy this paper as long as they show both sides and not just the left's.

You have a terrible knack of overexplaining your personal POV, while at the same time not only disagreeing with others, but then saying when they don't agree, they are negative. Maybe if you would pull your head out of the hayloft for a few seconds, you might find out that the world doesn't revolve around you. As for the original content of the article, having been placed in a foster home as a child, people like these are indespensable; not only for the child but the parents as well. Kudos all around!

needs to just stop pointing fingers and getting upset over this. People do crap like giving thumbs down to perfectly good posts just to start an argument. This way they can start an argument without anyone knowing who they are. In other words, they thrive off drama. Ignore those people and continue with the positive comments on such a wonderful subject!

the "tolerant" liberals on here seem to need to keep the hateful attacks and drama at a high level. Sad it is that one of the ringleaders of this nasty business is a former DFL Chairperson.

Eyolf, I'm with you. I have to take extremely long 'breaks' from this forum. Then I log back in and see the same ole stuff. I do support my local paper, but giving points to frequent negative posters seems counterproductive.
Apologies to any foster parents who are reading this comment section. It's not about you. You are wonderful!

Points are 'earned'
Most of the points are not 'awarded' by the Dispatch.
Right now, most points are earned by commenting, so the most prolific posters have earned the most points. That's where some currently have had an advantage. The more you post the more points you earn. Is that fair? Probably not, but thats the system right now. It may change soon and give posters more points for something else.
I've 'awarded' points to several posters for common sense approach solution postings, spam alerts and good posting conduct. I've also deducted points for bad posting conduct from a couple posters.
We're just learning how this works - right along with you. So bear with us.
And please - don't start posting 100 one-word comments to earn points - I'll take away ALL your points. ;-)

I have a full grasp of what you are doing, and it is as good as any I've seen elsewhere.
The problem you have is a very few commenters that seem to believe that they have been disfranchised simply because Kieth Hanson is at the BDD now. Those same people have been trying to accuse others of the very same behavior they practice daily. I believe you have moderated with proper restraint and they are infuriated that you haven't muzzled the people that don't agree with their views. I, for one find your system fine. Please don't deduct points for this.
