May 14-20 proclaimed Police Week

Brainerd Mayor James Wallin proclaimed the week of May 14-20 as Police Week in the City of Brainerd.

“I call upon our citizens to make every effort to express their thanks to the women and men who make it possible for us to leave our home and families in safety each day,” said Wallin in his proclamation release, “and to return to our homes knowing we are protected by women and men willing to sacrifice their lives, if necessary, to guard our loved ones, property and government against all who violate the law.”

Top three candidates named for Brainerd Police Department

Recent departures of two Brainerd Police officers has prompted the Brainerd Police Department to review top candidates on the Police Officer Eligibility List.

Police Chief Corky McQuiston said the top three names on the current Police Officer Eligibility List are Jay Personius, Patrick Pickar and Robert Brogren.

The Police and Fire Civil Service Commission met Monday and approved advancing ahead with the candidates McQuiston suggested.
