BAXTER — A benefit is planned for Greg Jager from 3-7 p.m. May 5 at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church, 6284 Fairview Road, Baxter.
Jager was taken to the emergency room at Fairview Southdale Hospital in March. He was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis which is rare and usually fatal. During surgery to remove the front half of his skull, he had a stroke causing paralysis on his right side, apraxia, aphasia and severe brain damage. He is learning everything all over. He was in the hospital for eight months and is now home in Nisswa. He has made progress but has many years of recovery ahead. He was a member of the Triple Stitch Band and was a 2003 Pequot Lakes High School graduate.
There will be a motorcycle ride beginning and ending at Lakewood Church from 3-5 p.m. A brat feed and silent auction will be from 5-7 p.m. A welcoming and update of Jager’s progress will be at 6 p.m.
All proceeds (free will offerings, silent auction and suggested food donation of $5) will help with expenses for the family.
