SWCD tree sale pickup planned
Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) requests customers of the 2012 SWCD Tree Sale to pick up plant, tree, and shrub orders the first week in May. The Tree Sale pickup site will be at the Northland Arboretum located at 14250 Conservation Drive, Brainerd, from 5-7 p.m. May 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4 and from 9 a.m. to noon May 5.
Customers will enjoy free coffee and refreshments, courtesy of the SWCD Board of Supervisors. Customers can also learn from area plant experts, purchase compost bins, and explore different County, State, and Federal conservation programs and grant opportunities. Landowners can also arrange for SWCD staff to plant plants and trees for $40 per hour. Tree planting spades are available for a $5 deposit.
Customers should bring a copy of the order confirmation and cash or check to complete their orders. Customers without a copy of the order confirmation may experience slight delays at the pickup site. All orders must be paid in full before the SWCD will release custody of the plants.
Orders not picked up by noon May 5 will be charged $10. Early pickup is not available. All plants are native stock sourced from local nurseries with verifiable seed source. SWCD does not guarantee survival of plants and trees. All orders are subject to the same condition that they are received from suppliers.
According to Melissa Barrick, District Manager, “This is a great opportunity to ask the SWCD your questions. Staff will be on hand to answer the what, where, and how to plant shorelines, backyard gardens, wildlife habitat, and general tree planting questions.”
Contact the SWCD now or in the fall to sign-up to receive a 2013 Order Form and information about future tree sales.
