Student issues parent forum scheduled Thursday
PEQUOT LAKES — Pequot Lakes parents with a student in fifth through 12th grade are invited to a Parent Forum from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pequot Lakes High School.
From 6 -6:30 p.m., parents will have time to check out community services, talk with agency representatives and learn what area resources are available for parents and their child. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a welcome and introduction of the speakers for the parent forum workshops in the auditorium. There will be four discussion topics offered and each presenter will share their talk twice. Parents can attend two breakout sessions. Session one takes place from 6:45-7:30 p.m. and session two is from 7:45-8:30 p.m.
Many challenging situations confront students every day. Parents can become acquainted with some of these concerns at the forum. Topics offered in the breakout sessions are on social media, drugs, harassment and bullying, depression and suicide.
Free child care is available in Room No. 104, provided by the National Honor Society students. Children will do art projects, gym activities and have a snack.
