Memorial ship will visit Titanic graves in Canada

100th Anniversary - Titanic tragedy

Posted: April 10, 2012 - 12:23pm

NEW YORK (AP) — A memorial ship is preparing to ferry passengers from New York to Canada to visit the graves of those who perished on the Titanic.

Titanic Memorial Cruise says the cruise ship Journey will leave New York City's pier Tuesday evening for Halifax, Nova Scotia. That's exactly 100 years after the Titanic left Southampton, England.

Passengers will visit a cemetery where 150 victims of the Titanic are buried. The ship will also feature lectures about life on board the doomed ocean liner and hold a memorial service at sea.

Ticket prices have dropped in recent weeks from about $5,000 per person to just $1,000 per person. Another ship operated by the same company is retracing the route of the Titanic.
