The Crow Wing County Land Services Department, Recorder’s Office and Information Technology Department teamed up to improve the public’s ability to search for recorded plats and survey documents within the County’s GIS Mapping site.
The Crow Wing County Recorder’s office has more than 2,000 recorded plats on file and Land Services has well over 8,000 survey documents on file. To the average person locating a single document in that many records would seem like an impossible task. Fortunately, through the addition of drop-down menus and the ability to search by “keywords” the county made that a much more attainable task, the county reported. “We are continually looking at ways we can improve and build upon the services we provide our customers,” said Doug Hansen, Crow Wing County senior GIS specialist, in a news release. “These new enhancements have also contributed to overall improved staff efficiencies and higher data integrity and accuracy since we are only maintaining a single data system.”
Crow Wing County also recently released its Parcel Search page, which is designed for non-mapping customers who are looking for parcel information.
Users have the ability to search by parcel number, property address, subdivision plat, lake name or by township/city. The Parcel Search page may be found at http://gis.co.crow-wing.mn.us/taxsearch/.
“Ongoing efforts will continue to be made to the GIS Mapping site as we strive to achieve our mission; to provide high quality, cost effective, public services in a friendly and respectful manner,” Hansen said.
