Next court date set for man charged in Chickamaw Beach house fire
WALKER — The 23-year-old Akeley man charged with nine counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson for a house fire Jan. 8 in the Chickamaw Beach area, appeared Thursday in Cass County District Court before Judge John Smith.
Smith set Brandon Todd Sannan’s next court hearing at 1 p.m. April 30.
According to the criminal complaint, Sannan states that he intentionally set fire to a home shortly after midnight Jan. 8 with knowledge that it was inhabited. In the home at the time of the fire were homeowners Timothy and Carla Volcke along with six minor grandchildren and another minor child. The people were able to safely evacuate the home.
