Brian Patrick Callahan was sentenced to 39 months in prison following his conviction for second degree criminal sexual conduct. Callahan, 44, of Mora was sentenced by Judge Douglas P. Anderson on March 28 in the Morrison County District Court in Little Falls. He had plead guilty on Feb. 22.

Assistant Morrison County attorney Todd Kosovich stated in a press release that Callahan was also ordered to register as a predatory offender and will serve a 10-year period of conditional release under the jurisdiction of the commissioner of corrections. That 10-year period will not begin until the day he is released from prison.

The case began in 2011 when Mille Lacs County Social Services learned of a 2006 assault on a then 11-year-old child. Investigation revealed that the sexual assault occurred in Morrison County. Lt. Bruce Motes of the Morrison County sheriff’s office completed the investigation.
