Technology offers new credit card payment option at county counter

Certified birth and death certificates, building and firewood permits and marriage licenses are a few of the things that can be paid for by using a major credit card at the counter in Crow Wing County Courthouse and affiliated offices.

The county execution fee for passports may be paid for with a card but checks will still be required for inclusion with the application that is sent to the passport agency.

Tax payments including current or delinquent property tax, mortgage registration tax and deed tax will have a convenience fee assessed if a card is used. This will be figured at 2.35 percent of the amount charged and will be shown on the credit card billing statement.

Acceptance of credit cards is one feature made possible with the change to a new county-wide receipt system. The system is called Inovah and will result in a more detailed analysis of collections.

The credit card option is only available on site at this time. Phase two will make these options available on the county website.
