DNR to impose burning restrictions beginning March 26

Posted: March 19, 2012 - 2:41pm

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Department of Natural Resources is imposing burning restrictions over much of Minnesota next Monday.

That means the state will not give out burning permits for yard waste or brush burning. Campfires are still allowed.

The initial burning restrictions this spring cover much of central and northern Minnesota. Additional counties will be added, depending on conditions.

The DNR says fire danger is expected to rapidly increase in most of Minnesota in the coming week as snow continues to melt and winds dry dead grass and brush.

The restrictions usually last from four to six weeks until vegetation greens up.
