Normal in Brainerd

Seems that it is a normal daily occurance for people to run red lights in Brainerd. I see it all the time. Sometimes the light is red long before they get to the intersection, but they just go through anyway. It is a matter of time before someone is killed. I wish there were cops around when people do this.

Traffic lights and stop signs

Rolling through a stop sign or flying through a red light is easy to do when the driver is distracted with a phone call or is texting.

Not sure if this was the case here, but I see it all the time.

Absolutely constant occurence in Brainerd/Baxter

This issue definitelly hit a sore spot with me. It happens constantly, on average about 3 cars or even semi-trucks run every red light in this town. I have lived in Phoenix, AZ and rarely saw this happening. Sometimes I even see police seating right there watching and not even bothering, probably just waiting for somebody to go 2 miles over on an empty road to pull those over... I wonder if this is due to the people in front of the car line that seat there indefinitelly, staring at the light when it turns green and the drivers behind, knowing that this will take them forever to wait for another green light, get flustered and run it? Seriously, I saw road kill with better reflexes, so I understand the frustration, but do not approve of the red light running. I see two, three would be a miracle to go through a 371-210 intersection towards Motley, forget the turn lanes...The problem stems from the way the trafic lights are set in this town, whoever is in charge of this issue, is not doing a good job. Normally, one should be able to drive from one end of town to another at a set speed aithout having to stop at every light, not possible here, I guess, keeps gas stations in business with all of this stopping and going. Trafic signals should be seriously relooked at, and may be consider some trafic cameras in the worst intersections. Besides, drivers need to wake up and start driving, and not talking on their phones, texting, shaving, eating, applying make-up, and being overall arrogant and ignorant of other people around them. Also, there are horns in the cars for a reason, wake those buggers up. Oh, it is not MN nice is it? But running red lights and hurting or killing people is?

They change the way the lights cycle constantly

EVERY SINGLE LIGHT everywhere I have been goes like this, when you turn you go first, then the straight traffic goes.

At 371/210, they change it weekly. It was once where the turn lanes go first. Today it is where one turn lane and straight traffic goes then the other turn lane goes and straight traffic.

Last week, it was straight traffic first, the the turn lanes.

Keep everything uniform across both Brainerd and Baxter.

I am a victim of a person confused at that intersection from last March. It is confusing.

Sure people need to pay more attention but it is extremely confusing the way they run that set of lights and continuously change how the lights cycle.

Dems, if you have a green

Dems, if you have a green arrow, you should be protected. But if it is a green circle, you have to yield to traffic going straight. I'm assuming you must be talking about the green arrow?

I see it too

What Dems is saying is true, The signals are not consistant as far as arriving at a red light, One day the intersection will allow left turners on both directions to start the cycle, the next day north going traffic turners start followed by both straight, ending with south turners. Or some combination of the above. It is not consistant, I realize that there is a weight trigger that will somewhat determine this also, but during the busiest times, that should not apply.

I know that, for quite some time now, I dread being the lead car at a metered intersection because when a light turns green, more and more frequently, a car will still be coming through.

Seriously time to start "policing " this issue as well as the left turning into the right hand lane rather than the left hand lane then shifting over.

try Chicagoland

Here in the burbs of Chi-town they slow down for greens and zip through the reds. They even wait for a few secoinds before going through a fresh green. I get honked at when I stop for a red i'm waiting for someone to smash into my receiver hitch one of these days so I can get out and laugh at them. Man I miss MN!!
