Writing workshop planned at Brainerd library
The Brainerd Public Library is hosting a writing workshop revolved around the writing of author Suzanne Collins from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 7.
The workshop is geared towards students ages 13-17 and participants are asked to sign up by calling 829-5574.
In the workshop, participants will look at characterization, tone, point of view and style and analyze why Collins’ books are absorbing and discuss how we can learn from them as writers.
The class will be taught by Carrie Mesrobian, who has worked as a teacher in public and private schools. Her work has appeared in the Star Tribune, Brain, Child magazine, Calyx and other web and print publications. She currently teaches classes at the Loft Literacy Center in Minneapolis and lives in Columbia Heights.
This free Legacy Program is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s art and cultural heritage.
