Cass County Board: Board to meet with tribal council

Posted: February 21, 2012 - 10:59pm

WALKER – A joint meeting has been set between the Cass County Board and Leech Lake Tribal Council on March 2 at Northern Lights Event Center at the junction of Highways 371 and 200 east of Walker.

Commissioners expect to join council members for a noon buffet lunch before convening a 1 p.m. meeting.

Topics scheduled for discussion include proposed improvements to County State Aid Highways 75 and 8, County Road 136 and the CSAH 8 bridge over the Boy River. The county and Leech Lake Band hope to add a pedestrian area on a new bridge to more safely accommodate fishermen who use that bridge.

Also on the agenda are public safety; health, human and veterans services; courts and probation; facilities; waste water planning for Stony Point and Sugar Point areas of Leech Lake; and federal and state legislative issues affecting the two jurisdictions.
