Two convicted of elderly abuse serve 42 of 180 days
ALBERT LEA, Minn. (AP) — Two women convicted of abusing residents at an Albert Lea nursing home have been released after serving 42 days of their 180-day jail sentences.
Brianna Broitzman and Ashton Larson were each sentenced to three separate 60-day stints. But they were allowed the opportunity to petition the court after the first 60-day term to have the other two waived.
An Albert Lea Tribune report (http://bit.ly/wjehnp ) cites Freeborn County jail records that show the two were each released after serving 42 days of their first term.
Larson and Broitzman were accused of sexually and psychologically humiliating residents of the Good Samaritan Society.
Before sentencing, a tearful Broitzman had said she was "forever sorry" for what she did. Larson apologized to victims' families and said her actions were "extremely harmful and dumb."
