Firefighters respond to rare February grass fire
The Brainerd Fire Department responded to two grass fire calls Saturday, one that was reported to be a sizable fire just off Highway 371 south of Brainerd.
The fire, just south of the bypass, was reported at 11:17 a.m. and may have been caused by someone who tossed a cigarette into the ditch.
A second fire was reported at 5:36 p.m. off Highway 18, but turned out to be coals at a cemetery being used to prepare the ground for a burial.
Elevator panic alarm triggered in elevator at Brainerd church
Brainerd Firefighters were called to a church on Juniper Street when the panic alarm was pulled on an elevator. But no one was trapped and it was determined to be a false alarm or potentially a prank.
