Fifty-three students from Forestview Middle School recently qualified to take part in a 55-word written spelling test for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. The top 16 spellers advanced to the district oral competition on Jan. 18 at Forestview. They were sixth graders Lauren Benson 6A, Lauren Crabtree 6B, Maison Jobe 6B and Laura Wadsten 6B; seventh graders Emily DeChaine 7D, Lauren Forsythe 7D, Matthew Greatens 7D, Adam Kleist 7B, Camryn Schmidt 7B and Caleb Warren 7B; eighth graders Nick Ashman 8B, Ben Froemming 8B, Noah Hendrickson 8C, Matthew Majerle 8D, Emmalee Mayer 8B and Scott Woodward 8D.
The champion and six runner-ups advanced to The Lakes Bee sponsored by the National Joint Powers Alliance to be held at Tornstrom Auditorium on Friday. They are district champion Adam Kleist 7B, regional runner ups Nick Ashman 8B, Lauren Crabtree 6B, Ben Froemming 8B, Matthew Majerle 8D, Camryn schmidt 7B and Laura Wadsten 6B.
The fifth grade spelling bee was held Feb. 1 at Forestview Middle School. The 16 students who participated were Skyann Armstrong 5A; Alex Bauer 5D; Caroline Benson 5C; Kailee Cabalona-Coleman 5C; Renzen Caughey 5C; Thomas Cole 5A; Jeb Duininck 5D; Jason Jennette 5B; Maxwell Lewis 5A; Sage Martin 5B; Elissa Rhuby 5B; Olivia Ruhl 5D; Alex Sample 5A; Maddie Schuld 5D; Jadyn Selisker 5B and Amy Ulanowski 5C. After eight rounds of words, there was a three-way tie with Caroline Benson, Jason Jennette and Maddie Schuld.
The 2012 fifth grade champion is Caroline Benson 5C and runner up is Maddie Schuld 5D.
