FIRST 2012 robotics competition
marked for March in Duluth
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) has set the date for its robotics competition in Duluth, headlining the DECC March 8 through March 10. Encouraging high school students to learn more about science and technology, the competition will pit 66 teams of high school students from Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois in an engineering challenge, including building a robot with only a kit of parts and no instructions.
Preserving family history topic
of Cuyuna Range Women’s Club meeting
The Cuyuna Range Women’s Club will be hosting an informative program at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hallett Library, where participants will learn how to preserve their family history.
With special guest and heritage preservation expert Marion Burch, those in attendance will learn techniques for storing and restoring old photos as well as learning about free and affordable resources to help track down details of their family history.

Airport commission to meet Feb. 7
The Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport Commission plans to meet at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 7 in the airport conference room.
The commission was also invited to a joint meeting with the Brainerd City Council and the Crow Wing County Board at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in Meeting Room One at the Crow Wing County Land Services Building for the purpose of discussing various airport issues.

Multiple Sclerosis support group to meet in February
The Multiple Sclerosis Mutual Help Group will host a meeting from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 9 in the family room at the Lakewood Health System Senior Campus, 401 Prairie Ave. N.E. in Staples. Individuals and family members are invited to attend.

Orientation and registration for
incoming ninth-grade students set Feb. 27
South Campus will be hosting an orientation and registration session for current eighth-grade parents and students at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 in the cafeteria at Brainerd High School.
South Campus administrative and guidance staff will be available after the meeting to answer questions and students are welcome to come at 5:30 p.m. to view booths featuring core and elective classes, as well as clubs and sports offered.
A registration guide will be sent home with students on Feb. 23 and 24 and parents are asked to bring the guide to the Feb. 27 meeting.
