Teachers in the Crosby-Ironton School District will receive a slight pay increase over the course of a four-year period.
The Crosby-Ironton School Board on Monday unanimously approved the 2011-13 and the 2013-15 teachers’ masters’ contracts.
Superintendent Jamie Skjeveland said Tuesday that over the four-year contract period it averages a 1.4 percent increase in teachers’ salary and benefit package. The contract impacts 78 teachers in the district. The teachers’ previous two-year contract for school years 2009-11 expired June 30.
“This was a group effort between the two bargaining units to reach a contract both sides could live with,” Skjeveland said. “There were a few minor language changes, but both parties knew about the economic hard times. (During negotiations) there was a little frustration, but we reached an agreement and I believe the teachers, as well as the district, believe that the 1.4 percent total package is fair.”
