A large fish house went through the ice on Gull Lake in East Gull Lake this past weekend.
Residents nearby said they were surprised to see people putting out houses after they saw this scene.
if everyone that writes a story about the lake maybe is would be smart to put where abouts on the lake this is happening, use your brains even the dispatch dont even tell you were the problems areas are.
these guys with their $15k fishhouses and they can't get em out on the ice. Its killing them and the market for the houses, driving the prices right into the mud.
Of course, the guy with the fishhouse that sank in this photo might!!! have insurance but does insurance cover stupidity?
Looks like the Quarterdeck in the backround. That should give people some idea of where the issues are.
Well that helps me some but i dont know about the people that are not familiar with the lake thanks man
It says east gull lake? so maybe craguns??? Dispatch did say that so read better
east gull town hall is by gull dam an steamboat bay south end. lakeshore is barr harber on very north end. lesson for the day smartguy!!!
It is the quarterdeck in the background, I know cuz I used to work there many years ago!
east gull lake, like they said. Q deck is on west side
i know it is by love lake i know the lake but am saying that most people from not around here dont
You don't need to know the lake to know where not to go. There are posted signs every where, including the ones this idiot drove past to get to the bottom of the lake. This guys truck is still attached to the fish house. They were able to get out and get to safety, but never informed anyone that their vehicle was sitting on the bottom of the lake. I spoke to the sheriffs office today and that is what they told me. They had to run a camera into the cab of the vehicle to look for bodies. Once they spoke to the owner, they said they went in around 11pm Friday night. My guess is they were drunk and that's the reason for not calling the police.
This photo was taken just off of Green Gables road, half way between Love lake and Squaw Point, and this is the second one to go through the ice in this spot this month.
The fish house in the fore ground of the photo was pulled out there Saturday morn. They actually walked over toward the sunken house before choosing their spot, no more than 40 feet from where the last one sank.
Cover's miles of lake but looks like all those houses/wheeler/people are very close together.
They are actually quite far apart. The ice where the truck and big fancy house went down was open water just a week or so ago, before the cold spell.
ah,a basement in the fish house neat!
That house was on good ice and quite a bit further from where the truck and big house broke through. Again the perspective in the picture makes it seem like things that are 100 yards apart are right next to each other.
I took the photo. I know exactly where the houses were. The house in the foreground is the exact same distance away from shore and less than 100ft to the right of the house that went down on December 15th, and the hole they cut it out of on the 16th. It is also less than 50 ft from the open water that appeared less than 2 weeks ago when 6 diff houses pulled off because of the newly opened holes. I never said it was close to the larger house/truck that went in. I said they were idiots for putting it out where there are posted THIN ICE signs, 2 houses in the water, and open water less than 2 weeks ago. Ice Fishing is not THAT fun that you should risk your property and life to do it.
