Outstanding Teens crowned at pageant

Two area teenagers captured crowns Sunday in Brainerd as The Miss Brainerd Lakes and Miss Baxter Scholarship Pageant hosted the Miss Brainerd Lakes’ Outstanding Teen and Miss Baxter’s Outstanding Teen for the first time.

Savannah Cole was crowned Miss Baxter Outstanding Teen 2012 and Baily Wachholz was crowned Miss Brainerd Lakes Outstanding Teen 2012 Sunday. Wachholz dominated the night winning three other awards and coming in a tie for a fourth.

Sixteen girls, age 13 to 17, were part of the competition for the Brainerd and Baxter titles. Third runner-up honors went to Lizzy Thurlow. Catie Kleindl was second runner-up. Serena Schreifels was first runner-up.

Notable awards were:

• Spirit Award winner — Lizzy Thurlow.

• Fitness Award — a tie — Rebecca Schreurs and Bailey Wachholz.

• Talent Award — Bailey Wachholz.

• Evening Gown Award — Bailey Wachholz.

• Personal Interview — Bailey Wachholz.

The pageant was sponsored by the Brainerd School District Community Education and Holiday Inn Express of Baxter hosted the pageant, which was in Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd.
