WALKER — Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch announced this week the winners of the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association scholarship program for 2011. The association awards up to 15 scholarships each year to individuals planning to become Minnesota peace officers. The applicants apply through their local sheriff’s office. This year the scholarship committee chose 15 winners out of the broad spectrum of applicants. The Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association scholarship program, which is promoted by the 87 sheriffs of Minnesota, is pleased to announce the winners. They are:
Kodi Nelson, Roseau; Adam Cook, Aitkin; Seth Robison, Longville; Tony Brill, Little Falls; Jacob Letourneau, Winona; Joshua Keller, Montevideo; Columba Nwosu, Willmar; Angela Otto, Belle Plaine; Brendan Mooney, St. Cloud; Jacob Wrobbel, Montrose; Shawn Bohnen, Sleepy Eye; Brady Stough, Redwood Falls; Jared Warneke, Zumbrota; Troy Fitting, Houston; Rebecca Dick, Reads Landing.
The members of the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association offer their congratulations to each of the scholarship winners. The qualifications and academic excellence shown by these winners reflect the dedication and pride of the young people in the state of Minnesota who will enter the difficult but rewarding profession of law enforcement and public service.
The awarding of the scholarship to the individual winners will take place at a later date and will be made by the sheriff in the winner’s home community.
